Embodied Meditation

“People always used to tell me that I needed to 'feel my feelings' but never explained how to actually do that.” 

I was great at thinking about my life.

 

I could talk about my emotions for hours.

 

As a lover of personal development I had no problem analysing myself in great, great detail. 

 

But no matter how self-aware I became I just couldn’t seem to make the changes in life I wanted to make. 

 

Coaches and therapists told me that the key was learning to feel my feelings and experience life rather than just thinking about it. But I had no idea how to go about doing that.

 

Surely the hours I spent journaling and talking about my feelings was my way of feeling my feelings? 

 

It was only when I discovered embodied meditation that I finally learned what it really means to feel. And it was much simpler and straightforward than my complicated mind was making it out to be.

Embodied meditation uses a mixture of movement, breath, awareness and sound to help you to connect to your inner felt senses, and reconnect with the physical sensation of being alive. 

 

Unlike traditional forms of meditation which encourage you to sit still and silent, I encourage you to move, sigh, shout, shake and dance to express your inner world through your physical body. 

 

Through regular practice this gets you out of your thinking mind and into your feeling body - which is where your subconscious lives, and where you have the power to make the greatest change in your life.

With regular practice you'll build up a greater sensitivity to your feelings, and you'll learn how to experience them through your body, rather than intellectualise them.

  • You’ll feel more grounded and centred in yourself.

 

  • You’ll understand the emotions and sensations you’re feeling on a daily basis, which in turn will help you to understand yourself more deeply. 

 

  • Feel supported to face the more uncomfortable and difficult sensations in your body, and slowly start to delve into them. (Kind of like easing yourself into cold water and realising that your body already knows exactly how to handle this) 

 

  • You’ll start to feel really good about yourself, knowing that you are able to face anything life throws at you.
